  • Arnold Rim Trail Hike it, Bike it, Ride it, Run it. The Arnold Rim Trail is a non-motorized trail system designed for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians.
  • Moaning Caverns Adventure Park is home to the largest single cave chamber in California, located in nearby Vallecito. 
  • Mercer Caverns is a show cave located one mile north of Murphys. 
  • Murphys Mini Golf enjoy family fun with 9 holes of mini golf. 
  • White Pines is a locals favorite. It’s a small, picturesque lake with beaches, picnic tables, children’s playground, and disc golf and only 5 minutes away!
  • Spicer Sno-Park is a popular snow sports area of sledding, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling with permit parking. 
  • Calaveras Big Trees State Park is a nearby 4 miles away. Meander through groves of giant sequoia trees, and trails leading to Beaver Creek, Stanislaus River, ancient volanic formations, and natural meadows. 
  • Natural Bridges Hiking Trail is a gorgeous 3 mile round trip hike down to a cave that you can swim through. Bring drinking water!
  • White Pines Lake is free to the public. It’s a small, picturesque high country lake with beaches, picnic tables, a children’s playground and disc golf course just one mile outside of Arnold. Enjoy fishing, swimming, kayaking or paddleboarding.  
  • Lake Alpine Recreation Area The best season is Summer and Fall. Located 30 miles from Arnold. Visitors enjoy swimming, boating, hiking, camping, fishing, picnicking, and biking. During the winter, the lake becomes part of the Lake Alpine SNO-Park where you can enjoy snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.  
  • Utica/Union Reservoirs are popular for fishing, camping, and boating. 
  • Spicer Reservoir is popular for camping, fishing, hiking, horse riding, picnicking, and boating and no cost. 
  • Stanislaus River Whitewater Rafting is a great experience! The North Fork is a technical class IV+ river. Commercial trips run from Sourgrass to Big Trees State Park. 
  • Columbia State Historic Park is a popular tourist destination. Statecoach rides are available season and weather permitting. The park exhibits open daily 10AM-4PM. 
  • Sierra Nevada Adventure Co is a great place to rent or buy your outdoor gear here! The Arnold location has kayak, canoe, paddleboard, and trailing rentals available.
  • California State Library Parks Pass Free Access to Big Trees State Park! A new pilot collaboration between State Parks and California State Libraries will provide free passes to every public library throughout the state. Library patrons can check these out and use them for free vehicle day-use access to parks across the state.
